Choosing music for a funeral can be difficult, and the choice is completely yours. If you don't wish to sing hymns then it is more than acceptable to simply listen to music, or you may like to have a combination of both. Often you would have three pieces of music played; one as your loved one is brought in the service room, one to listen to during a period of reflection midway through and another as mourners leave at the end of the service. You may wish this final piece to be a bit more upbeat, particularly if the funeral is to be a "Celebration of Life'.
Below you will find a list of popular pieces of music and hymns which may help when making your selections.
'Apple Music' and 'Spotify' are excellent ways of searching for and identifying suitable pieces.
Most crematoria use an online database of music such as ‘Obitus’ or 'Wesley Media' which allow you to search for a piece and listen to a short excerpt. A link to ’Wesley Media’ can be found below.
I will be more than happy to advise and suggest ideas regarding music for your service.
